One of the first conclusion that comes to mind is that all religions, new and old, as well as all philosophical religious systems such as Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, etc have the same aims:

- To give some explanations on where we are coming from, and where we go after death.
- To offer some means of "salvation".
It is true that no religion give any convincing and rational answers to these questions, faith and belief are always required. However, to most people, they bring help and reason for affronting everyday life.

Modern sciences have been able to explain many aspects of the world in which we live as well as in relation to our life. But until now, they have not been able to answer any of the fundamental questions quoted above and there is very little hope that they will be able to do it at least in a reasonable period of time.

As a result, religions in one form or the other are here to stay. Many people are saying that they do not believe at all, but this is directed more to the churches that have not been able, or willing, to adapt to the modern world. Educated people cannot accept much of what traditional religions would like us to believe. This, however, does not mean that people are rejecting religions; they only reject their presentation by the churches.

However, within themselves and independently of their race, religion, intellectual level, most people believe in a "Divine" presence. There is no other way to explain the material world but also answer some of the questions about whom we are, where we come from, and where we will go after death.
